The Herbarium CICY is the most comprehensive collection from the Yucatan Peninsula Biogeographic Region. It also contains material from the neighboring states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Oaxaca and others, mainly from the Mesoamerican Region.

The database has 52 346 specimens grouped in 266 families, 1 825 genera, 5 858 species collected at 13 196 localities, and it belongs to the   SNIB .
