The collection has information about 90% of the main genera and between 90 and 95% of the determinated species from all of Mexican states. Currently it includes 4 834 samples, 80% of which are freshwater fishes and the rest marine and estuarine fishes. The database contains 9 212 specimens pertaining to 62 families, 193 genera and 521 species, and it pertains to the SNIB.
