and Use of Biodiversity |
The New York Botanical Garden Herbarium and Conabio agreed to start data repatriation of Mexican specimens harbour at that herbarium, since 1998, to integrate them into Conabio’s National Biodiversity Information System (SNIB). Personnel from Conabio obtained digital images from 29, 781 plant specimens during 2000 to 2002, and data was captured in Biotica. Repatriated data from the New York Botanical Garden Herbarium correspond to families Asteraceae and Leguminosae, and dividions Bryophyte and Pteridophyte and related plants; a total of 86 families, 650 genera and 4,320 species. Most specimens were collected between 1885 and 1997. About 4,000 possessed geographic coordinates data in the label. CONABIO has geo-referenced the records. The total of specimens geo-referenced is 23 889.
