The northwestern region of Baja California, particularly that circumscribed into
the faunistic district of San Diego, has been object of special interest due to
its ecologic and biogeographic characteristics. A total of 23 species (19 native
and 4 exotic) inhabiting coastal wetland environments (entrances and salt
marshes) was registered. Native ichthyofauna is composed, ecologically, by
species of marine lineage/origin (78.9% sporadic and 21.1% diadromous) and
timely by permanent species (34.8%), tide visitors (39.1%) and occasional
visitors (26.1%). |
