The northwestern region of Baja California, particularly that circumscribed into the faunistic district of San Diego, has been object of special interest due to its ecologic and biogeographic characteristics. A total of 23 species (19 native and 4 exotic) inhabiting coastal wetland environments (entrances and salt marshes) was registered. Native ichthyofauna is composed, ecologically, by species of marine lineage/origin (78.9% sporadic and 21.1% diadromous) and timely by permanent species (34.8%), tide visitors (39.1%) and occasional visitors (26.1%).
 
Database has 388 specimens grouped in 18 families, 32 genera and 34 species, collected at 55 localities and it belongs to the SNIB .
