In order to be able to install and use the Biótica Information System the computer must have at least the following resources:
Microsoft Windows 95 or above.
Hard disc with a minimum of 70 MB of available space (after installing Windows) for the basic installation and a maximum of 300 MB, depending on the additional components installed.
Minimum of 16 MB of RAM (32 MB or more is recommended).
A SVGA monitor.

To acquire in CD send your request to the manager of the System Development Subdirection Av. Liga Periférico-Insurgentes Sur No. 4903, Col. Parques del Pedregal, Delegación Tlalpan, C.P. 14010, México D.F., Tel 5528 9100, Fax 5528 9131, or e-mail biotica@xolo.conabio.gob.mx will the following information: Name, Institution, project with Conabio (if applicable), address, country, telephone, fax, e-mail and a brief description of use of the system.

After downloading the files Inicio.exe, Data1.cab, Data2.cab, Data3.cab, Data4.cab, Data5.cab y Data6.cab into only one folder (subdirectory) execute the file inicio.exe which decompresses all the components into the same folder (subdirectory) and to continue with the installation execute the file instalar.exe.

After downloading the file Biotica.exe,execute it and to continue the installation follow the instructions.

Notes:

  • Depending on the configuration of your system, you may need to restart your computer so that the system is installed satisfactorily.

  • If you have doubts about the installation system, download chapter 1 of the users manual (PDF format only in Spanish).

  • Authority Catalogues

Conabio keeps Taxonomic Authority Catalogues which are compatible with BIÓTICA. The Taxonomic Authority Catalogues are lists of the scientific names of the taxa for a determined biological group, i. e. files which contain hierarchical information within the taxonomic classification system. They names of all the taxonomic categories, acknowledged by an expert in the subject.
