The database of the Collection of Diatoms of the South of the Gulf of Mexico includes 7 076 records corresponding to 23 families, 37 genera and 106 species and pertains to the SNIB. This project includes cataloging of materials collected at 357 sample sites made with a 54 micra mesh net. The material is being studied in temporary and permanent preparations both under microscopic lights and electronic sweeping. An illustrated catalogue will be prepared with photographs of all the species determined with their morphometric data.
